Auditions

The High Park Choirs encourages
all young people who love to sing to join us!

We are currently scheduling auditions for our 21st season, beginning September 2007.

Choir Divisions & Rehearsal times:

  • Early Bird Choir (ages 5 - 7)  Thursdays 4 - 4:45pm
    No Audition Required - call  416-762-0657 or email info@highparkchoirs.org

  • Training Choir (ages 7 - 10) Thursdays 4:30 - 5:30pm

  • Children’s Choir (ages 9 - 16) Thursdays 5:30 - 7:00pm

  • Senior Divisions (ages 12 - 18+)
    Senior Choir: Tuesdays 5:30 - 7:30pm
    Chamber Choir (auditioned from Senior): Tuesdays 5:30 - 8:30pm

    • LOCATION: All regular weekly rehearsals currently take place at Runnymede United Church, 432 Runnymede Road, 1.5 blocks North of Bloor.

Requesting an Audition:

To request an audition please complete our Online Audition Form or contact the Choir Manager at 416-762-0657 or info@highparkchoirs.org with parents' names, address, phone number, child's name, age and grade. We will contact you to schedule an audition.

What does an audition involve?

Each audition is approximately 10 minutes, and generally involves some note recognition testing (ie. the conductor will play a short tune and ask the auditioner to sing it back), echo clapping, singing of a common song (usually Oh Canada) for tone quality and testing of range with some basic scales.

You will be provided with registration materials and information regarding rehearsal times etc. at the audition if your child is accepted into the choir.  If your child is on the cusp of two different choir divisions, their placement will be determined by audition.

What should I bring?

Please bring a small PHOTO OF YOUR CHILD to the audition so that the director can more easily remember and identify him/her after the audition.

You can also print and bring a paper Audition Form, which can be downloaded HERE. Please attach your child's photo. There will also be Audition Forms provided at the audition.

There is a $10 AUDITION FEE per student, to cover audition administration expenses. This will be collected prior to the audition and can be paid by cash or cheque payable to High Park Choirs of Toronto.
